Please send your updates so we can post them.   I’ll take them any way I can get 'em but the most convenient way for you (and me) is for you to use the web form on this site in the ‘Contact Us’ section.    For additional alumni updates, please see the 25th reunion booklet in the 'Scrapbook' section.

From Ron Krueger on 02/23/2001:

Kirk Harris died February 6th from heart failure. He is survived by his brother Doug. A memorial service will be held Friday February 23rd at the Harris family cemetery in San Saba Texas. I saw Kirk about three weeks ago at Brackenridge Hospital. He was being treated for diabetes. As you might remember he loved reading, and his room was filled with books. We visited for a couple of hours and reminisced about our youth. We agreed that we had it pretty good growing up among the dairy farms of northeast Travis county. Kirk took care of his mother until her death last year. May they rest in peace with the LORD!

(from Kerry) Our thoughts go out to Kirk's family. Many thanks to Ron for forwarding the information. If you have any further information concerning Kirk, please forward so that it can also be shared.

After forwarding the above, I received back the following from Vic Pena:

Hello Gang, I'm real sorry to hear about Kirk's passing. I feel it very strange that I still remember him in my mind as he was on graduation day. I think that was the last time I saw him. It is during times like these that we need to step back and remember what is really important in life, Your Health, Your family and Your faith.

From Lee on 05/16/2001:

Kerry, thanks a lot for running the web site.   It is real quality  work!

So it's been 25 years.  Hard to believe!  Kim and I have been married for 20 years and have 3 sons.   Lance graduates this year and will be attending Vanderbilt University on a football scholarship.   He may also play baseball.   Grant will be a junior and will start next year for the Copperas Cove football team.   He started this year in baseball.   Brent is in seventh grade and plays football, baseball and track.   Sports seem to consume our lives.   Kim teaches kindergarten and I am an administrator for
the Copperas Cove ISD.

We have lived on the same farm all this time and are really enjoying life.   We will be unable to attend the reunion because we will be in Nashville, Tennessee with Lance  (he reports for 2 a-days that weekend).   I think about past days often and the good friends I had.  Enjoy the reunion!

Lee and family

From Mark on 01/02/2001:

Hello everybody!

It will be fun to see everyone again!   My family and I moved to Pflugerville five years ago and are really enjoying it.   Dawn Deena and I have been married for 22 years and have two beautiful daughters Andra(13) and Makayla(6).   Both girls attend Hutto schools where Dawn Deena is teaching this year.   Dawn Deena and the girls seem to really like Hutto alot.   It reminds me of how Pflugerville was when we were in school.   I still work for AISD as a Network Analyst in the Telecommunications Department.   I hope to see everyone in June.

From Deanna on 01/01/2001:

I returned to Pflugerville in 1989 with my twins, Jason and Krystal, and purchased a house (on land that was once part of the old Ward family homestead before it became Windermere) where I continue to live with my children.

I am now self-employed.  I have a pet-sitting business. My twins, who will be 16 in May, are Freshmen and are the 4th generation of the Ward family to attend PHS.   Jason has received school and National Academic Awards in Science and Academic Achievement and is rated in the top 10% of High School students in the US.  Krystal takes after Mom and enjoys Technical Theater where she worked on the Romeo and Juliet play this year and continues her activities.

I divorced shortly after the 10 year reunion.  Since then I have been busy raising my twins and working - nothing really...

From Ronald on 12/26/2000:

Ronald Krueger and Sarah Morrison were married on July 8th, 2000.   We spent the remainder of July in Greece and Italy.  Ron works for the State of Texas and Sarah works for Advanced Micro Devices.   We are looking forward to meeting and visting with everybody at reunion activities summer 2001.

From Steve on 09/28/2000:

Here's an attempt at a quick biographical sketch for the last 25 years...

Let's see, I finished my undergraduate work at UT Austin in chemical engineering and went to work for Eastman Chemical in Longview, Texas. I'm still working for Eastman Chemical, but I've not spent more than about half my time in Longview due to business travel requirements.  I later finished my MBA work at S.F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches.

I've been married Cindy since 1982. We haven't been fortunate enough to have children, but we do help out with other friends children from time to time.  Cindy also works for Eastman Chemical doing programming and database work.

We've had a chance to travel some and enjoy friends in the East Texas area. Maybe we'll get a chance to migrate back toward the Austin area to live someday.   We visit Cindy's parents in Georgetown once or twice a year - they even visit Longview every once in a while.

Well that's about all I know to say in this short format, but hopefully we can all swap stories at upcoming reunion activities and really catch up with each other.

From Molly on 09/23/2000:

Married 20 years - three children: Chris 16 yrs., Cathy 13 yrs., and Casey 11 yrs.  Two boys and one girl.  We've been in Georgia for 4 years.   I'm currently a Bakery Manager but I am changing jobs - I'm getting my securities license for the states of Georgia, Florida, and Texas.

From Joy on 09/07/2000:

I'm still substitute teaching in Elgin and am still an organist at Immanuel Lutheran in Pflugerville.   I also spend a lot of time at my kid's various activities - some weeks I feel like I live in my car!    Karin is 14 and is a freshman at Elgin High School.   She's on the volleyball team and plays flute in the band.   Scott is 11 and is in the 6th grade at Booker T. Washington Middle School in Elgin.   He's busy with soccer and both kids are also busy with piano lessons.   Stan is still with the Austin Fire Department.   He is working at the Fire/Rescue Station at Austin-Bergstrom International.

From Sheila on 06/28/2000:

Hi!  I've been married for 22 years to the guy I dated during high school, Bob.   We have one son, Jason, who is 21.   As for me - after high school, I worked for the State, then Travis County as a Management Analyst, and currently working for the Texas Department of Human Services as the Director of Records.   Bob has his own construction business. Living in Hutto, but putting the house on the market soon (growth has extended to Hutto).   Moving to our ranch in the Shiloh community (Thorndale) and building our retirement village.   Hope to join everyone at the 25th reunion!

From Karen on 05/24/2000:

I graduated from Southwest Texas State in 1982 (along with Larry Dybdahl - we were both on the 6 year plan).   I have been living in Arlington, TX since 1983 and work as an Information Technology professional. I have worked for several companies, most recently Alcon Labs. Work has kept me very busy and I have had the benefit of traveling quite a bit in the last several years.

I have never married but have dated the same person for 11 years. We are thinking of getting married by the time I am 50. We are cautious and don't want to rush things!

I agree with several others that the web site is a great idea!

From Jeannie on 04/15/2000:

Hi Everyone!! Mel and I have been married for 23 years (anyone longer?) and are now living in Spring, Tx.   We both still work at GTE Wireless and have been for 20 years.  We were not fortunate to have children, however, we have had a very fulfilling life.  We enjoy snow skiing, water skiing and good times with our friends and family.   Soon we will be on our way to Cozumel to celebrate our friends 25th Wedding anniversary. This web site is a great idea!   Hope to see everyone at the reunion!

From Glenn on 04/12/2000:

My family has lived in Belton for the past 14 years.   My wife, Judy, is a secretary at the elementary school where the kids used to go. She's been there full-time for 2 years.   I am a structural engineer for Raytheon in Waco.   Our division's business is to modify airplanes -- mostly putting in new electronics.   I've worked there for 4 years.

Judy and I have three children -- Casey, our 15 year old daughter, is a freshman; Tara is 13 and in seventh grade; and Troy is 11 and in fifth grade.   They keep us busy with band, choir, cheerleading, baseball, basketball,  homework, ...
That's the main stuff.    We can fill in the details at the reunion -- Hope to see you all there!

From Marcella on 04/11/2000:

I am now single, raising two beautiful daughters ages 16 and 12 years old.  The oldest is named Stephanie and the youngest is Amy.   Stephanie attends McNeil High School and is a sophomore.   Amy goes to Cedar Valley Middle School where she is a 6th grader.   And for me I still work at the good old state office.... (Comptroller of Public Accounts).   When I'm lazy I like to work in the yard and cook.   That's all  folks...

From Vic on 04/11/2000:

Attended South West Texas State University in San Marcos and got a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physics, Minor in Chemistry.  Graduated in 1983, went to work for Hydrolab Corporation in 1984 and have been there ever since.  I am now the Latin America Sales Manager and my territory is Mexico, Central America, South America and the Caribbean.   Quite an amount of travel over the years, I am at the point now where I can name the places I haven't been better that the places I have.   I could work another twenty years at Hydrolab and not get the job done.  (Selling water quality monitoring equipment for the environment)

I have been married to Bertha since 1984, so that's 16 years.  We have two good kids.  Victor Amadeo (Manny) and Amelia Marie (Amy).   We have lived in Austin, Pflugerville, Georgetown and for the past 10 years here in Round Rock.  I won't be traveling again until June, so if anyone wants to drop me a line (email), I would be happy to talk to you.

See Ya,
Vic Peña

From Keith on 04/09/2000:

After High School I attended Central Texas College and American Technological University between Killeen and Copperas Cove and graduated in 1981.  I then moved to Odessa and worked at an NBC affiliate there for 2 years as a technical director. I then moved back to Killeen and went to work as a contractor on Fort Hood running a video production house.  About 5 years ago, I moved to a different job at the same facility and began managing a digital photo lab.  The responsibilities have grown to having administrative responsibilities over the photo lab, a graphics section and my old TV section. I also research production equipment and attend lots of trade shows for that purpose. My wife's name is Julia and we have been married for 10 years.   She does the news on a couple of radio stations here in Killeen.   She also does some acting and voice-over work.  You have probably seen her in a commercial or PSA on TV.  We have 2 sons:   Adam, 8 and Travis, 6.

From Bobby on 03/31/2000:

We moved to Fredericksburg in 1997 after being in Sinton for nearly 9 years.   I am one of two full time pastors at Holy Ghost Lutheran.  We love the hill country.  Tammy is teaching 4th grade at Fredericksburg Elementary.  Katy is 13 and does all that sports, music, and academic stuff.  Ditto on Andy who is 11.  We mostly enjoy being together when we are able to calm down and do it.

I look forward to assisting with the reunion.  Peace, Bobby  Vitek

From Dean on 03/30/2000:

Hello everyone – I’m still living out in Georgetown and am working in Austin as a machinist at EMC Test Systems on Kramer Lane.

From Mike Rhodes on 03/30/2000:

Our family moved this past summer back to west Texas. I am working at Andrews High School as the principal and I am really enjoying my new school.   It has been a change moving back to the land of no trees and very little rain.

My daughter Jamye is a sophomore and my son Rett is a 7th grader.  Jayme is running track and between going to track meets and attending other school functions we have little time for anything else. The amazing thing is my daughter got some speed from somewhere - all I know is she didn't get it from me.  My son is in track and, bless his heart, he DID inherit my speed.
It is great to hear that everyone seems to be doing well.  I hope we can get together in the summer of 2001 for a weekend of barbecue and picnic!   Take care everyone!

From Connie on 03/24/2000:

Let's see, almost 25 years in one paragraph....

Finished RN school in 1981.  I have three kids from my first marriage; Kris is almost 19, lives on his own and he will be going to a Sound Recording Technology program in Florida in the fall; Marie is 17 and a Senior, just got her graduation announcements this week, (as she is the class of 2000 it reminded me of all the hoopla since we were the class of '76); Travis is 16 and last month moved in with his dad in Baltimore, Maryland.

Married for the second (and final) time in 1987.  We lived in Houston for Tony to complete Medical school and residency at Baylor.  Then we moved to Tyler (east Texas).  We moved our permanent residence to Georgetown last year where Tony has his practice in Internal Medicine.

This is my final year at Baylor Law School and I will take the Bar in February of 2001.  I will probably do some medical malpractice (plaintiff's work) and since my husband's last name is Shallin, and we are the only ones in Texas, I decided it would not be a good idea to keep my husband's last name...doesn't look good for a dr's wife to be suing drs! :-)  So I am changing my last name back to my original, Gray.

I have driven through Pflugerville several times and, of course, am amazed by the growth.  Different than when I started there in 1972 and I am sure those of you who grew up there are even more amazed.  Nice to see the old stone gym still standing.  Look forward to helping with the reunion next year!

Update from 07/05/2000:

Connie wrote back in to report that on July 29th she ' is gonna be a grad-ji-ate'.    She will receive her Juris Doctorate (JD) from Baylor University School of Law.   Persistence pays off!   Congratulations Connie!   (Editors note:  Oh my god, another lawyer!)

From Kerry on 03/22/2000:

I graduated UT in 1981 with a chemical engineering degree and took a job at Texas Eastman (Kodak) in Longview.    Worked there for a while, decided that I wanted to learn more about programming so I returned to Austin and went to UT while working part-time jobs.   I didn't finish the Computer Science degree but rather got married and found a systems support/programming job at an insurance marketing company in 1987.   I'm still working at the same place running the systems department  - we've changed names several times and are now called Americo Financial  Services after being bought by Americo Life out of Kansas City in late 1998.

Patty and I have been married since 1985 - the 'kids' are now hulks - Brian is 24 and Ricky is 21.

In 1997 we bought a house in North Park Estates off of North Lamar in Austin and moved from Pflugerville.  This is the same neighborhood where I grew up and where my parents still live - the house we bought is right across the street from where Dean Villoz used to live on Rebecca drive.

Take care!
